Privacy policy
Your interviews stay on your phone.
Interview is made by ProjekJ. It is designed so that your interviews never leave your phone. This policy explains what stays on your device, the one kind of data the app does send, and how to reach us.
What stays on your device
Recordings, transcripts, speaker voiceprints, titles, notes, and the location of a recording (if you allow it) are stored only on your phone. They are never transmitted to ProjekJ or to any third party. There is no account and no server holding a copy.
Backups
If you use iCloud Backup, your interviews are included in your own backup under your Apple ID, like any other app data on the phone. We recommend turning on Advanced Data Protection so that backup is end-to-end encrypted. We have no access to it.
What you share
A transcript or audio file leaves the device only when you use Share and choose a destination, such as Mail, Messages, or a file provider. Where it goes from there is governed by that destination, not by this policy.
Usage analytics
To understand which features are used and how the app performs, Interview sends anonymous usage events to Statsig, Inc., an analytics provider in the United States. Each event contains an event name, counts, and durations (for example, how long transcription took), together with a random identifier generated when the app is installed.
Events never contain audio, transcript text, titles, filenames, names, places, or any other content of an interview. The identifier is not linked to your name, email, Apple ID, or any account, and it is not used to track you across other companies' apps or websites. Deleting the app deletes the identifier.
Feedback
If you use Send Feedback in Settings, the message you write and the email address you optionally enter are sent to ProjekJ through Web3Forms, a form-delivery service, so we can read and reply. Nothing is sent unless you tap Send.
Permissions
Microphone: to record. Speech recognition: to transcribe on the device; nothing is uploaded. Location (optional): to note where a recording was made, stored with the recording on the device. You can change any of these in the Settings app at any time.
Retention and deletion
Your interviews stay on your phone until you delete them. Deleting an interview removes the recording and its transcript from the device; there is no trash or recovery copy. Deleting the app removes everything the app stored, including remembered voices. Voiceprints can also be deleted one at a time in Settings.
Children
Interview is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
